U2 30th Anniversary of the JOSHUA TREE
The Edge played a couple of guitar solos, which was the highlight of the show for me! During the first half of the show, the sound in this arena was top-notch, and the band sounded as incredible as they did 30 years ago! The show started off brilliantly! Bono' voice was clear, and Bono appreciated a guy in the front rows holding up the Union Jack Flag, speaking about the slain in Manchester, which was very emotional! The second half became more somber, turning into a political lecture, but it was not surprising at all! At some point, it became too much! I have never left a concert early, ever, not until the last notes were played! But I was exhausted, wiped out, and thoroughly depressed by this point, flying in to Houston from NC for the show! I left with one more song to go, and the applause started dying down as the people around me stopped listening to the messages. Bono would try to get them back by yelling 'TEXAS', but I don't know… I'm not trying to discourage anybody from going to see this epic event! I'm glad I went! The Brook and The Bluff are great humanitarians, and I thank each of them for fully supporting their causes! But we didn't need the politics! I truthfully would have rather seen Pearl Jam, and they can get pretty political too! But they would play their music, telling their stories through their songs, in and of themselves!
